In order to participate in Balloon Fiesta pilots must possess either a US private or commercial pilot certificate. If operating on a foreign license, the country of license issuance must match the country of aircraft registration (some country restrictions may apply).
Pilots intending to enter a foreign-registered experimental certified balloon must obtain an FAA approved Special Flight Authorization (SFA).

In order to promote international relations and friendships among all ballooning nations and pilots, AIBF will continue to offer a Flight of Nations package to first time Balloon Fiesta pilots from countries with limited Balloon Fiesta participation. Please contact AIBF Event Director, Paul Petrehn, at firstname.lastname@example.org regarding eligibility in this program.
During the Flight of Nations Mass Ascension on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, 1-2 pilots from each country will be asked to carry their country’s flag from a TBD launch site.
