Verification of Authenticity of Foreign License, Rating and Medical Certification:

In order to participate in Balloon Fiesta pilots must possess either a US private or commercial pilot certificate.  If operating on a foreign license, the country of license issuance must match the country of aircraft registration (some country restrictions may apply).

Special Flight Authorization (SFA):

Pilots intending to enter a foreign-registered experimental certified balloon must obtain an FAA approved Special Flight Authorization (SFA).

Flight of Nations Information:

In order to promote international relations and friendships among all ballooning nations and pilots, AIBF will continue to offer a Flight of Nations package to first time Balloon Fiesta pilots from countries with limited Balloon Fiesta participation.  Please contact AIBF Event Director, Paul Petrehn, at ppetrehn@balloonfiesta.com  regarding eligibility in this program.

During the Flight of Nations Mass Ascension on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, 1-2 pilots from each country will be asked to carry their country’s flag from a TBD launch site.
