In addition to the magical spectacle of balloons, we showcase some of the most talented performers of our day - most of them local New Mexicans - representing a myriad of styles and genres. Competitors find their own launch area at a minimum and maximum distance from the target and attempt to drop a marker close to a target set by the BalloonMeister.

Chainsaw Sculpture is a relatively new art form that has gained enthusiasts all over the world. The delicate ballet the carvers perform with a powerful chainsaw is mesmerizing. Come and see what all the buzz and chips flying is all about!

Balloon enthusiasts can get hands-on experience to learn about the sport and science of ballooning, and a behind-the-scenes look at Balloon Fiesta event operations.
Seeing the balloons glowing en mass is a great experience that gets greater with the after glow fireworks. Be sure to bring chairs or blankets so you can sit and enjoy the spectacular.

The Dawn Patrol began at Balloon Fiesta in 1978, when two California balloonists developed position lighting systems that allowed them to fly at night.
The events now known as balloon glows were invented in Albuquerque in 1979, when local pilots inflated balloons on Christmas Eve night as a thank you to local residents.
