Gordon Bennett Poland Team

Gordon Bennett Gas Balloon Race officials are aware of an accident involving Poland Team 1. The balloon came into contact with a powerline near Crandall, Texas. The strike occurred at approximately 7:25pm Central time. Local residents and first responders provided immediate assistance to the two pilots Krzystotf Zapart and Pjotr Halas, from Swidnica, Poland. Both pilots sustained injuries and have been transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, and are reported as stable at time of transport. Race organizers are monitoring the situation closely and are in communication with their crew and local officials. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
