Kate Johnson is the Co-Leader of the Gondola Club at Balloon Fiesta. She works alongside Dave Kinney to provide an experience that guests won’t forget.

In this month’s Inside the Basket, Kate discusses what the Gondola Club is, and why it is so important to her.

1. Give a brief overview of your Balloon Fiesta position.
I am co-leader with Dave Kinney of the Gondola Club. The Gondola Club is the very large white tent on the southwest corner of the Balloon Fiesta field. We are a high-end option to see the Balloon Fiesta up close and personal. Every client receives a delicious breakfast or dinner, depending on the session you attend, along with an open bar, very nice enclosed bathrooms and easy access to the field. My job is to tend to the 'front of the house' activities. I facilitate the Navigators and make sure the service is of the highest standards.

2. What is your favorite part about being involved with the Gondola Club?
I love meeting our clients and talking with them. Many of our visitors come from foreign countries along with every state. Many return year after year. They recognize us and we often remember their names. Also our view of the mass ascensions is the best! You never get tired of that view.

3. What experience do you hope to provide Gondola Club attendees with?
For many of our attendees this is or has been on their 'bucket list' for a long time. So with that in mind, we try to make this experience the best ever. We try to show them why this event is so great and make them want to come back.

4. Do you have a favorite balloon?
Well.... I must say my favorite balloon is Peppermint Twist Too. I crew for this balloon. I also love the special shapes especially Smokey Bear. The motorcycle balloon last year was totally awesome.

5. What advice do you have for guests interested in the Gondola Club?
When you come to our event dress in layers, with an empty stomach and a charger so you can take many pictures. We'll take care of the rest.
