In this month’s Inside the Basket, Sara talks more about her Balloon Fiesta experience and what it meant to share it with family.

1. Give a brief overview of yourself and how you came to attend the 49th Balloon Fiesta.

My name is Sara. I am a Medical Assistant for Lovelace. I took some time off from work and since the weather had been beautiful I asked my kids if they wanted to go to Balloon Fiesta for the first time. Of course they were excited and said yes. My oldest was so excited that he decided to stay up all night.

2. What was your favorite part about attending Balloon Fiesta?

I would have to say my favorite part of attending was finally getting the up-close experience with the balloons and meeting the people who help bring the show together!

3. What was it like sharing this experience with your family?

Finally getting to share this opportunity with my family was amazing, I felt like a kid again! My kids loved it and with all the balloons and special shapes getting to fly we honestly could not decide where to look. My kids were excited about getting to collect cards from the balloons that they liked. Truly a once in a life time experience!

4. Of the many balloons at Balloon Fiesta, which was your favorite?

I would have to say the bee family have always been my favorite Balloons! There are truly so many amazing shapes I really can't choose just one favorite.

5. What tips do you have for first-time Balloon Fiesta guests?

Get there early! We arrived by 4 a.m. and were able to enjoy some amazing food and do some shopping all before dawn patrol started the event!
