Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta® Announces New Officers and Appoints a New Board Member

Albuquerque, NM- The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta®, a private nonprofit corporation, has announced new leadership and a new member of its volunteer board of directors for 2018.

Ty Young was elected president, taking over for Jay Czar who has served for the past two years. Jay remains on the Board as a Director. Mr. Young previously served as vice president and was elected to the board in 2009. He has an extensive ballooning history and has a attended every Balloon Fiesta since the first event in 1972.  He has served as a crew chief for foreign pilots for the past 20 years, featuring his unique 1941 American LaFrance fire truck chase vehicle. Young is currently the managing partner of Albuquerque-based Young Equity Partners, LLC and a General Partner of REA Property Management.

The board also announced Matt Guthrie as vice president, Al Tetreault as secretary and Richard (Dick) Rice as treasurer.  The remaining board elected in November includes JR Allison, Ray Bair, Gary D. Bennett, Chuck Clark, John Davis, Barbara Fricke, Jim Garcia, Steve Komadina, Cheryl Lété, Rod May, Tom McConnell, Frank A. Mezzancello, Judy Nakamura, Doug Schwebach, Harry T. Season, Jr., John Sena, Mark Sullivan, Bill Walker and Neil Jackson who is new to the Balloon Fiesta board of directors.  He replaces outgoing officer General “Mike” D. Rice.

Neil Jackson’s ballooning experience as both a commercial hot air balloon pilot and a spectator, provide the basis for his involvement with Balloon Fiesta. Jackson is an owner of Albuquerque based Mountain States Constructors, Inc. and plans to utilize his skillset to positively impact Balloon Fiesta attendees.
