Helen Chavez is one of many Balloon Fiesta Navigators. This month’s Inside the Basket provides insight into her role at the event and what her favorite part of volunteering is.

1. Give a brief overview of your position and how you became involved with Balloon Fiesta.

I work the courtesy shuttle golf carts, to give rides to guests to various locations at Balloon Fiesta Park, as needed. I became involved with the event when some friends needed help and the rest is history.

2. What is your favorite part about being involved with Balloon Fiesta?

I like meeting people from all over the world and playing a role in their enjoyment of Balloon Fiesta.

3. What type of questions do you answer for guests?

I give them information on places to go, places to eat, and places to visit. I also let them know more about volunteering.

4. What is your favorite balloon?

My favorite balloon is the Harley Davidson motorcycle.

5. What advice do you have for Balloon Fiesta guests visiting for the first time?

My advice is to enjoy the special shape balloons and to tell your friends about the event.
